Calum og Irini som held vaffelpitchen 30. januar om gjenbruk av medisin
This Friday, the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bergen is pleased to invite you to Friday Waffles.
Researchers Calum Leitch and Irini Ktoridou-Valen from Bjørn Tore Gjertsen’s research group will give a talk entitled:
“Repurposing Medicines for Blood Cancer: ValQ and the Bjørgvin Therapeutics Group.”
Drug repurposing involves using already approved drugs in new clinical contexts.
Using this approach, we developed ValQ, a drug combination for the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia.
Although the active compounds are well established, manufacturing and regulatory requirements prevented further progression to a clinical trial, despite encouraging clinical signs observed during off-label use.
To address this, we began exploring options for in-house drug manufacturing, which led to the establishment of Bjørgvin Therapeutics AS.
The presentation will be held in English.
